Lavvie Dilweg was considered the best two-way end in the pre-Hutson Era. The 6’3”, 200-pound Dilweg scored 10 touchdowns as a Packer from 1927-’34.
The former Marquette University star played for the Milwaukee Badgers while going to law school. In 1926, the Badger franchise folded. Dilweg eventually signed a Packer contract.
Practicing football in the morning and law in the afternoon, Dilweg became a star receiver, blocker and tackler. He scored two touchdowns against the Cardinals in a 12-0 win in 1929. In 1930, he returned an interception 50 yards for a touchdown against the Frankford (Pa.) Yellow Jackets.
Lavvie Dilweg was elected to the U.S. House of Representative in the 1940s and served as a member of the U.S. Foreign Claims Commission in the 1960s.
